Capturing Beauty

I’ve always loved shooting nudes and Mummy To Be sessions, but of late I’ve been toying with the idea of shooting boudoir sessions…think glamorous and girly, classy and sexy…think DIVA!

When Kelli rang, I hadn’t finalised any details of my Classic Beauty sessions, but true to form, I said yes, and filled in the details later!

We had a great day, taking photos, chatting and laughing. Kelli was an awesome model and very patient as I fiddled with lighting and poses, experimenting along the way.

P.S dated 25.06.08 (the day after I originally blogged this post); After speaking to Kelli when she collected her prints, Kelli wanted me to mention that she has cancer, and to do something like this was very liberating and great fun, and she wanted to encourage anyone who has cancer to do something like this. For me, it was a very special photo shoot, and one that I was particularly nervous about shooting, I wanted to do the most amazing photos for Kelli, for myself and for the memory of my very best friend Tracy who lost her battle to cancer in August last year. I miss my friend, so very much, but know I take a lot better photos because of her…it is her memory that is one of the things that inspires me the most.

I usually start all my blog posts with my ramblings about a magical wedding that I was privileged enough to photograph, but since I ‘do’ photos so much better than I ‘do’ words, I thought I’d start this post with a photo, a teaser to get you to scroll down further and see more stunning photos from Katie and Tate’s wedding day.

Ok, ok, I can’t help but ramble….I had the most incredible day with Katie and Tate, they are both truly lovely people, their bridal partys were fantastic, their families made me feel so welcome, Pastor Gary conducted an awesome ceremony and totally rocked as the MC and the weather was just sensational…Talk about the perfect ingredients for a wedding day….all I had to do was click the shutter!!

One of the witnesses to Katie and Tate’s marriage was Tate’s grandmother, which I thought was just beautiful:

For our ‘informal’ formal photos we hoofed it out to Angourie Point, the location is absolutely stunning and one of my favourite places to shoot landscapes:

All these photos were shot slap bang at midday (a photographers worst nightmare!) but I am rapt in how they turned out:

The reception was held on the deck of The Yamba Shores Tavern with the decorating done by Michelle of Fabulous Functions:

I wasn’t staying for the reception so we had an early bridal waltz so I could capture the first dance for them…

Miss Kristal

On Friday I shot a maternity session for Kristal who is expecting her first baby in just 6 weeks. Instead of shooting at her home or my studio, I had this idea to shoot outside in a couple of different places.

Kristal was incredibly gutsy and did whatever I asked. She is also so calm and serene and a pleasure to photograph….I have practically begged her to come back for another preggy session!

She’s a natural!

We shot the session right on sunset and I was able to cut loose with some awesome light and play with silhouettes:

Curt

A couple of weeks ago I had a fun session with a very cute little bub called Curt. His mum was wonderful, she just let me do ‘my thing’ and we shot some great images!

What brides, photographers and flowergirls think……

I LOVE this photo! Everytime I look at it it makes me laugh!!

I’ve been umming and arring about blogging it since Amanda emailed it to me not long after her wedding…..it was sooo what was running through everyones mind at the time!

I hope you all get a bit of a giggle out of it. And thanks to Amanda for emailing it, unforunately I don’t know who the photographer was who took the photo so I can’t give them the credit they deserve.

PMA Tradeshow

Yesterday I made the big trek up to Brissie to the PMA (Photo Marketing Association) Annual Tradeshow.

My mission: to check out as many album suppliers as I could so I can keep providing the most up to date, cutting edge albums for my wonderful clients!

I also spent some time lusting after some beautiful, ‘L’ series Canon lenses (the really expensive ones with the red lines around them)……All I want for my birthday is a Canon 50 1.2…..it’s like buttah…..

Anyway, today I am a bit tired but decided to blog some photos so you can check it out!!

I just want to mention also that these photos were taken on a Pentax compact camera not my ‘real’ camera!

Some cool things to do with your photos! (I so ‘need’ one of those chairs!)

I was also lucky enough to sit in a lecture my wedding photography great Yervant Zanzanian…very inspiring to listen to. It’s a shocking photo I know but it was the best I could do at the time! I had a lady with lots of lovely blonde hair sit in front of me….it was kinda hard to see!
