a peek…

IMG_0090e

I spent this lovely winters morning hanging with this awesome little two year old and his lovely family. We climbed in the cubby house, looked for kangaroos, echidnas and koalas, listened to bird calls, and pretended to whipper snip and dig in the ground with pretend tools. Sound effects included. It was priceless.

McLeod Family : Portraits

During the school holidays I was lucky enough to photograph these 4 fantastic kids! They were great, very relaxed, they didn’t try too hard, they were just…themselves.

There were a few moments of setting up a shot for them, but mostly I just hung out and shot things as they happened.

First up we have the girls:

Now the boys:

Yep! He had a buster a few days before our photo shoot! Oh well, I guess it’s just the age and stage!

After shooting in the park for a while, we headed down to Convent Beach:

I just love these ones where the kids are ‘modelling’ in the pandanus trees:

All the chasing is worth it…..

2008_03_06Tracey-5668

I love photographing children, especially the ones under 5! They haven’t quite perfected the fake cheesy smile or the posing. They still have real expressions…like the photo below:

2008_03_06Tracey-5618

I photographed my friend and fellow photographer, Tracey and her girls about a year ago whilst they were out visiting from China. It was only while going through some old files that I stumbled upon these shots.

Sometimes we just have to stop and pull the flower from the grass:

Before resuming our ‘game’:

More real expressions:

The outfits are just adorable. Anyone who knows Tracey knows that she need things to match, likes things to look good together. I love taking photos with Tracey. She is always so stylish, I feel such a dag!

favourite vendor spotlight :Celebrant Christine Preston

chrispreston_may-02-2009

I am very lucky to work with some of the most talented and personable vendors in the wedding industry. I love to be able to refer my clients on to professionals who I have worked with before and truly believe they will do an amazing job for them.

Today I’d like for you all to meet Chris Preston. I’ve seen Chris officiate a number of weddings and she really is wonderful. She’s so warm, genuine, funny and she shows so much care for the couples she marries. Her ceremonies are customised with personal touches which highlights each couples personality. Her ceremonies flow with love and laughter.

I interviewed Chris so everyone could get to know her better. I asked the hard questions! Her answers are below:

How long have you been officiating weddings?

I have now been appointed as a marriage celebrant for 5 years and have now done 250 weddings.

What first got you interested in officiating weddings?

I have been interested in being a celebrant for a long time and if ever I saw a wedding I would love to stop my car and just watch everything. In the past before I became a celebrant, I have even been known to follow the wedding cars just to see everything.

Besides officiating weddings, what else do you do with your time?

Besides weddings, my other favourite thing to do is Baby Namings. I love babies and children so much and have now had the privilege of naming babies that have been a result of some of my weddings. Apart from catching up with friends and shopping, my favourite thing to do, is to spend time with my new little grand daughter. Lots of trips to the Gold Coast.

What type of clients/weddings do you most find yourself working with?

Clients/weddings I have worked with have been everything you can imagine and I just love everyone of them. The diversity is amazing and I so appreciate how my clients want to celebrate their special day. I have done weddings with just the bride and groom and two witnesses to the larger ones of 150 guests.

What do you enjoy most about being a part of other people’s big days?

I enjoy everything about my client’s big day. I love to see the bride walk down the aisle looking amazing and the look on the groom’s face when he first sees her.

I take everything in and don’t miss much at all. I still get blown away when I see the gorgeous bridesmaids and I love to see what all the guests are wearing.

What do you feel like sets you apart from other officiants?

I am passionate in what I do and try to make my couple’s day as special as I can. Hopefully somewhere in their ceremony we can laugh.

If you could give one piece of advice to couples on their wedding day, what would it be?

The advice I would give to my couples on their wedding day, would be, just to try and take in every moment and have an amazing time at the reception and not try and feel obliged to get to every guest. Don’t waste a minute and dance the night away.

Are there any other fun-facts that we should really know about you that would contribute even more to your coolness?

Oh look I don’t know how answer the last question. One thing, I don’t mind getting rained on! Ha! Pretty much though I just “Love the Love” xx

ella jean

One of the things I truly love about being a wedding and portrait photographer is the opportunity to follow the stories of peoples lives. Ella Jean is the gorgeous newborn baby girl of wedding clients, and now friends of mine, Amanda and Jason.

You may remember they were married in Sannas Gardens in May last year:

Now I am extremely happy and very proud to show off 9 day old Ella Jean:

Awww…look at those lips, how cute is she?

I made Ellas grandma her very own brag book, so instead of just showing the photos on the blog, I thought I’d share some of my favourite pages from her 6×4inch brag book. I’d love to hear peoples feed back if you would like to comment….
