loving and loathing

I have decided that since I am queen of my blog, I will use Wednesdays to tell everyone my loves and loathes of the week. I don’t know if it will make for interesting reading or not, but it will make me feel better.I will limit myself to three of each.

We’ll start with the LOATHES first….

  • People who think just because they can’t get a newspaper for the day that the world will end. I hope that never happens to me.
  • Sleeplessness. Yep, I’m still seeing 3am wayyyy too much for my liking.
  • Facebook. I knew when I signed up I would be addicted!!! Why did I do that?

Now for the LOVES:

  • Facebook. Yes, I know. If it wasn’t for all my Facebook friends, getting home would have been made all the more difficult. Thank you!
  • Jarrason. For loaning me his lens just one more time. Thank you!
  • Blogging. I really enjoy blogging now. Before it was one more thing to get done in a day, but now, I actually look forward to the time I get to sit down and think about what I am doing.

I am nearing the end of my 30 days/30 blogs challenge. I have slipped up 3 times, but for the most of it I am happy with what I gave done. Now for the home stretch, is there anything that anyone would like to see blogged, questions you would like answered regarding photography, anything really?

Until tomorrow,

Vicki

finally home…

Normally today I would be blogging my entry in the  I Faces weekly photography competition, however due to my recent adventures I haven’t been able to get near my ‘real’ camera, let alone take a photograph!

You see, Friday night Anthony and I made the trip up to Brisbane to see the Crusty Demons, we had a few bits and pieces to do in Brisbane on Saturday and were expecting to drive home Sunday. The problem arose when the Clarence River rose due to flooding and the road in to Yamba was cut, remains cut and may not be open until Friday. We were flooded out of Yamba.

Today we ere able to make it to Iluka and catch the ferry home. It feels really good to be home.

I have tried really hard to keep up with my clients and my blogging, but sometimes I had to let that fall by the wayside in order to try and organise care for girls from afar as well as try and find away for us to get home. If I haven’t got back to you I will try and call/email/facebook you tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

Unfortunately I don’ have any photos of my own to share with you, but here are some taken by  friends of the Yamba area over the weekend:

The following photos are credited to David Brandon at Fletchers Fotographics Yamba.

This is the road that I drive on to get home!!

sunday | inspiration

I love looking at wedding photos.

Last night as we enjoyed a rare Saturday night off,   I sat in the Plough Inn in Brisbane with my fiance and my soon to be brother in law and  flicked through the photos of my soon to be brother in laws wedding photos on his (very cool) iphone.

I love that even years after the wedding, people still get so much enjoyment by looking at their photos. It inspires me and encourages me to  keep improving every single wedding I shoot.

In my effort to keep my mind filled with creative wedding photos from amazing wedding photographers, today I stumbled upon the work of Zaporozhets Sergey’s photography.

All photos in todays blog are credited to Zaporozhets Sergey Wedding Photographer.

weddings, floods and crusty demons

Tonight I am sitting here and thinking ‘Thank goodness I didn’t have a wedding today’. The floods in the Northern Rivers area have meant that roads are cut all over the place. I have heard along the grapevine that some brides have had to postpone their weddings as their venues are underwater. Thank you to my clients who have contacted me checking that we’re ok. Yes, we are fine, actually I am up in Brisbane at the moment and missing the action! We hope to be able to get home tomorrow, but will have to take it as it comes.

Last night Anthony and I went to the Crusty Demons. It was an amazing show. We were there with 15,000 of our closest friends. All my photos were taken with my trusty little point and shoot as all cameras with detachable lenses were banned!

Seth Enslow wasn’t able to appear as he had a major stack in the morning during practice and spent the day in hospital. He made an appearance, waved at the crowd, got a huge round of cheers and applause, but really, as a mum, I would have made him in stay in bed!

One of the things that the Crusty Riders are famous for is their ‘Trick Trains’. It’s amazing and ‘heart in your throat’ exciting watching 12 guys do backflips in the air and nail the landing everytime.

I’ll post my photos tomorrow as my wireless broadband is going a bit slow, and, I’m going out to dinner!

Until tomorrow,

Vicki

a night off

Hi everyone,

I hate to say it but today will be a blog post without a photo. At this very moment I am blogging as Anthony drives us up to Brisbane to see the Crusty Demons, something we have be looking forward to for a very long time, and in Anthonys case, years.

I will blog again tomorrow and hopefully have some photos to share with you.

By the way, you’ve just got to love wireless broadband and laptops!

Until next time,

Vicki

a new website on the way

I’ve been busy working on my new website. I think that it is nearly finished, well, it would be if I could just stop changing my mind!

I think this new website reflects more accurately where my photography is at now, is easier to navigate around and has a fantastic client proofing section.

It’s not live yet, so don’t go looking for it…but here’s a preview of whats to come:

Week 19 : I ♥ Faces : favourite face photo ever!

Goodness me…this weeks entry is a hard one. I have so many favourites and I can only choose one. It’s like choosing between my children.

I have settled on this photo after much deliberation. I thought that I should move away from posting photos of my own children, especially as with those I am somewhat one-eyed.

In this photo, I love her creamy skin, her bright eyes and her reserved little smile. She is so sweet.

“I am submitting this photo into the www.iheartfaces.com Blurb Book photo contest. I am granting I ♥ Faces permission to use my photo in a printed version of a book for commercial use and possibly advertising of a photo book on both the Blurb and I ♥ Faces web sites.”

This is my third entry in the I ♥ Faces blog weekly photography competition. Looking back through my files I realise I have no good recent photos of my girls. I think it’s time for a photo shoot! Chelsie has already signed up! I guess it’s time to get styling….

Until tomorrow,

Vicki

It’s 3am…

I have seen way too many 3 ams in the last few weeks. It seems that my body has decided that 3am is a good time to Get Stuff Done.  I think I have joined the ranks of those who think sleep is inconvenient. The problem with sleep deprived people is they complain about how tired they are. I am annoying myself!

During my 3am internet wanderings I have found some more wonderful blogs to follow and much more creative inspiration. I have also decided that Sunday will be Inspiration Day. Every Sunday I will share with you a photographer who’s work I admire.

This week I bring you Kelly Moore Photography. I love her Fearless Bride and Give Me Moore photo shoots. All photos today are credited to Kelly Moore.
